"As a visitor to Perth who likes to see live theatre, this was a terrific show in a great venue. The versatility and impact of the acting and its closeness was most appreciated."
Zen's Red Mouth audience member, July 2007

"Loved the show, I always enjoy the performances at The Blue Room. Artsy atmosphere, but not pretentious, cutting edge performances. Never boring"

"In the cornfield next to our house there's a scarecrow, it's been there as long as I can remember and it's always frighted me."

Cally lives with her mother, Rose, whose eccentricities have slowly become suffocating. She escapes her mother across the cornfield, where she meets Nick, who teases her with dreams of the world beyond their house.

Rose hasn't been outside since Wednesday last week, she finds it difficult to breathe amongst the corn. Inside, she pores over her collection of National Geographics and prepares herself for the inevitable. She raised Cally to be strong and cruel but Cally is growing to realize that her mother has locked herself in her own world. The isolation of the two women has worn their relationship thin as they bicker and manipulate each other's fears.

Scarecrow is a tale of mythic proportions, with a surreal script that evokes the timelessness of an eerie fable.

"You ran through the corn like the devil was after you."
