"As a visitor to Perth who likes to see live theatre, this was a terrific show in a great venue. The versatility and impact of the acting and its closeness was most appreciated."
Zen's Red Mouth audience member, July 2007

"Loved the show, I always enjoy the performances at The Blue Room. Artsy atmosphere, but not pretentious, cutting edge performances. Never boring"

They say the best men are moulded out of faults
And for the most part become much the better
For being a little bit bad!

Prolific playwright John Aitken has wrought a provocative thesis play of intrigue and suggestion, exploring one of the more fascinating partnerships in the dramatic canon.

In a world on the edge of a social and cultural abyss, in a small room… the theatre, religion and politics play as uncomfortable bedfellows: the wordsmith Shakespeare - weary and circumspect; his patron and muse, the wealthy and connected Earl of Southampton, Henry Wriothesley - bold, insolent and careless.

Aitken’s scenario, supported by the literature seamlessly woven through the text, is as contemporary as it is speculative.
